About Makanika Dot Com

Makanika Dot Com or simply Makanika as we are popularly known, is Ugandan tech startup that connects motorists to providers of vehicle repair and maintenance services, accessories and consumables. Basically, we have put together the most crucial services into the palm of every motorist with our app! Fuel, mechanic, accessories, service and insurance!

We train the suppliers to ensure they're meeting a certain standard. All of them are accessed by motorists via a mobile application, which is downloadable for free from Play Store and Appstore. Our clientele is currently serviced by a network of service providers, is currently spread across Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso in Central, with experimental sites in nine (9) towns outside of the Central region of Uganda. Our service offering is expanding and our vision to revolutionalize car repair and maintenance experience is becoming clearer. Our commitment to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals is unwavering, with a strong focus on reduction of youth unemployment as we turn every garage into a strong hub for youth employment.

We are looking for a person who is equally excited about our vision to join our team as an Operations Associate. This individual will be an anchor for all business operations and will be in charge of ensuring effective and efficient delivery of our service by excellently managing day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities of the Operations Associate:

Establish operations systems and policies, and oversee day-today running of the Makanika office.

Support the Makanika Business Development team in partner recruitment and training.

Processing client requests in accordance with the company’s client and partner relations standards and providing status updates on Makanikana team collaborative software platforms.

Work with the Makanika Finance and Admin team to manage collections, ensuring that commissions and any other form of payments are remitted to the company by partners through authorized platforms.

Provide support to budgeting, planning, reporting and auditing activities and processes.

Cultivating a culture of compliance to national laws and guidelines through ensuring that any all legal and regulatory frameworks are followed and that necessary documents are filled.

Support the company in organising internal and external learning and/or promotional events.

Offering support to product research, testing & development processes.


A person with exceptional decision-making, organizational, communication and people skills

Self-drive with special attention to detail and ability to work with little supervision

Previous experience working with a startup

A strong understanding and passion for the Sustainable Development Goals especially those that relate to the Makanika work

Knowledge of the car repair and maintenance industry

Computer literacy

Fluent in English and Luganda, plus any other local language

Residing in Kampala

Having a university degree in any field is an added advantage, not a must.
